Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions about solar batteries, installation, or how everything works? You’re in the right place. Our FAQ covers the most common queries from Aussie homeowners—so you can feel confident, informed, and ready to take control of your energy.
📝 Ordering and Installation Process
- 01
Due to high demand under the 'Cheaper Home Batteries' program, installation is typically scheduled around 30 days after your order is placed. No deposit is required.
- 02
We don’t offer in-house finance, but many companies provide green energy loans for batteries and solar panels.
- 03
Standard installation includes 10 metres of wire cabling, 2 backup loads, and AC coupling. Batteries: 10 years
Solar panels: 25 years
- 02
No, you don’t have to. Our batteries are compatible with most energy retailers in Australia.
However, we recommend considering two strong options:
GloBird Energy – ZeroHero (our partner retailer)
3 hours of free charging daily (11 am–2 pm)
Rewards for exporting battery power during evening peak hours
Excellent customer service (4.6★ rating)
Access to wholesale energy prices with a simple monthly subscription
SmartShift automation: charges your battery when power is cheap, sells back when prices spike
Compatible with Fox ESS batteries (as of 2025)
Both retailers can help you maximise the value of your battery. Amber offers the strongest automation and revenue potential, while GloBird provides predictable perks and top-rated customer service.

🔋 About Solar Batteries and Systems
- 01
Solar batteries store excess electricity generated by your rooftop solar panels during the day. Instead of sending it back to the grid, the battery holds that energy for later use—like at night or during power outages. This reduces your electricity bills and increases your energy independence.

Overcharge, overheat, and fire protection
Dual-layer enclosure
Automatic foam fire suppression
🛠️ Technical and Installation Questions
- 01
AC-coupled: Solar panels’ DC power is converted to AC before battery storage, meaning the electricity is inverted multiple times.
DC-coupled: DC power flows directly into the battery before being converted for household use—more efficient.
Our standard: AC coupling. DC coupling available for an additional $500.
- 02
Batteries must be installed in safe, non-habitable locations:
Allowed: Garage (with fire barrier), external wall, battery cabinet (IP-rated, fire compliant)
Not allowed: Bedrooms, lounges, kitchens, stairwells, or exit paths
Minimum clearances apply:
From windows/doors/vents: ≥ 600 mm
From ceiling: ≥ 900 mm
From combustible side walls: ≥ 600 mm
Escape routes: ≥ 600 mm and not blocking path
Battery must be mounted on non-combustible surfaces, or a fire barrier added.
- 03
Each Energy inverter provides 2 backup circuits as standard (typically lights and fridge). Additional circuits can be added at $300 each.
- 04
Standard: 5kW (max PV 8kW) or 6kW (max PV 9.6kW)
Upgrade: 8kW inverter (max PV 12.4kW) available for $300 extra.
- 05
Single-phase: 1 live wire, 230V, used in most homes for small appliances.
Three-phase: 3 live wires, 415V, used in larger homes and businesses for high loads.
Note: Three-phase metering for battery systems incurs a $500 extra charge.
- 06
Each 10kWh battery measures 630mm (W) x 1460mm (H) x 178mm (D). Batteries are modular and can be stacked to suit your available space.
